SaferChat / Documentation

A guide to your group's protection.

Start with the situation you want to solve. Each group has its own settings; save your changes before leaving a menu.

Start in your group's settings

Add SaferChat as an administrator, open the bot's group settings and choose a section below. Changes take effect after you tap Save. The bot needs the relevant Telegram permissions to carry out an action.

02

Joining and identity

Decide who enters and how new members are checked.

Newcomers and join requests

In Captcha, choose how newcomers prove they are human. The check can also be used for join requests: a successful applicant can be admitted automatically. Choose the captcha and the place for its messages there.

A sudden wave of joins

AntiRaid watches for unusual waves of newcomers and applies the response selected for the group. Twin protection can flag accounts that appear related; administrators should review a warning before deciding what to do.

Reactions before joining or reaction spam

Use the reaction settings to limit reactions from people who have not joined and to respond to repeated reaction spam. Ordinary reactions from members remain available according to your choices.

03

Messages and links

Choose broad spam protection or a precise rule for a specific kind of content.

A message looks like spam

AntiSpam checks whether a message is likely to be spam. In its menu, choose where it works, the response, and whether to check text in photos. Trusted domains here apply to this spam check. AI can make mistakes, so review its actions if something legitimate is caught.

I want a direct rule for links or mentions

Links and forwards is for explicit rules: websites, Telegram links, @mentions, forwards and quoted messages can each have their own action and exceptions. These rules work independently of AntiSpam. A trusted domain in AntiSpam does not override a direct link rule. Older groups may still show a quick link filter here until it is disabled or replaced.

Someone tags outsiders or everyone at once

In Links and forwards, use the outsider @username rule for accounts outside the group. AntiTegAll is for disruptive waves of mentions. You can choose the response in the corresponding menu.

Someone floods the chat

AntiFlood responds to a rapid burst of messages and removes messages from the burst, including those sent before the limit was reached. Text limits can also catch excessively long or repeated messages; Zalgo protection deals with distorted text.

Words or names should be blocked

Use Forbidden words for message text and the name filter for displayed names. Set the desired response in each section; review exceptions if normal conversations are affected.

04

Media and safety

Control what can be posted and how suspicious media is handled.

Messages sent via bots

Personal information

Edited messages: NoEdits

I want to limit media types

In Media protection, choose which photos, videos, stickers, files and other kinds of content are allowed. Messages sent via bots can be handled separately, with exceptions for bots you trust.

Adult content and profile photos

AntiNSFW lets you choose what media to examine and set separate responses for messages and profile photos. AI can make mistakes; review unexpected decisions. The bot cannot remove another person's profile photo.

A message or file may disrupt clients

AntiCrash checks suspicious text and media and applies the action selected in its menu. If a legitimate file is caught, an administrator should review the case.

05

People and moderation

Make routine decisions visible and keep access under control.

Moderator commands and examples

Commands starting with del

Punishments and durations

Service messages and bot notices

A command or setting does not work

Members need to call an administrator

In Moderation → Administrator calls, enable @admin so members can call available administrators. Enable .report if members should be able to report a specific message by replying to it. Administrator names are not shown in the chat, and anonymous administrators are not identified.

Who can use moderation commands?

In Moderation, configure commands and roles. A role can allow selected bot actions, but it cannot grant Telegram administrator powers that a person or the bot does not have.

Warnings and repeated violations

Warnings expire after 30 days. The repeated violations setting can increase the response when someone breaks selected rules again within the chosen period. Use Info to review active warnings and their expiry.

Remove inactive members

Audience tracks activity after data collection begins. An administrator can run a kick for members inactive over a chosen period. If there is not enough history yet, the bot shows the earliest available date instead of guessing.

This group uses forum topics

Choose a topic for captcha and notifications where the group settings offer one. A separate topic can be selected for the admin log; the main topic remains available.

See why the bot acted

Connect a separate log chat in Log chat settings. It records moderation actions and relevant deleted or edited messages, so administrators can review what happened. Choose the log topic if that chat is a forum.

Publish group rules or quiet hours

Use Rules to publish guidance for members. Night mode applies the group's selected restrictions during its configured hours.
